Geelong Boxing Club: A Gym with Integrity and a Vision for Social Prescription
Sep 16, 2024At Geelong Boxing Club, integrity is at the core of everything we do. We're not just another gym—we are a community-driven space with a deep commitment to holistic well-being. This is why we proudly position ourselves as a gym that could be socially prescribed, playing a vital role in improving both physical and mental health in our community.
Social prescribing is about offering non-clinical services to support people’s health, and boxing is a powerful tool in this context. Our approach is built on the idea that movement, discipline, and community can provide profound emotional and psychological benefits. For those struggling with stress, anxiety, or low confidence, boxing offers an outlet that fosters resilience, emotional regulation, and personal growth.
What sets Geelong Boxing Club apart is our dedication to creating a space that is welcoming to all. Co-owned by Lena Moxon, a globally recognised expert in emotional regulation, our programs are designed to support both physical and emotional well-being. Lena’s expertise in child and adolescent mental health ensures that our sessions are carefully crafted to help participants, young and old, feel empowered and equipped to manage their emotions both in and out of the gym.
Our coaches, led by Steve Moxon, design inclusive, empowering programs tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual—whether it’s a young person building confidence or someone managing mental health through structured activity. Lena’s influence adds an extra layer of support, making Geelong Boxing Club not just a place for fitness, but a sanctuary for emotional resilience.
Our commitment to integrity means that every aspect of our gym supports holistic well-being. By focusing on the mind-body connection and offering a safe, supportive space, we deliver programs that align with the principles of social prescription, helping members strengthen both body and mind.
Geelong Boxing Club is a place where anyone can come, regardless of their background or challenges, to connect, grow, and find strength in themselves and their community.
