Full Force Women: You don't have to keep being the reasonable one

You don't have to keep being the reasonable one
There's a particular kind of exhaustion that comes from being the person who is always managing everything.
The one who keeps the peace. Thinks ahead. Makes allowances. Reads the room. Doesn't want to upset anyone. Knows when to let something go.
The one who says, "It's fine," even when it isn't.
And somewhere along the way, being capable, accommodating and emotionally available to everyone else can start to feel like an obligation.
We get very good at understanding other people's needs. We can become much less practised at recognising our own.
This is part of the conversation behind Full Force Women at Geelong Boxing Club.
Strength is more than physical
There is something powerful about experiencing your own capability through movement.
Not because you need to change your body, burn calories or prove that you can push through exhaustion.
But because movement can give you a different relationship with yourself.
It can create space to notice your physical responses, practise using your voice, experience appropriate challenge and discover what it feels like to take up space without apologising for it.
Our approach to boxing is not about aggression or anger release. It's about developing awareness, choice, confidence and capacity.
In Full Force, we use non-contact boxing and padwork as a way to explore those ideas in practice.
What does it mean to have a boundary?
A boundary isn't just a sentence you say when someone has crossed a line.
It's also the ability to recognise what feels okay for you, notice when something doesn't, communicate your needs and tolerate the discomfort that can come with being clear.
That takes practice.
So does self-expression. So does trusting your own judgement. So does allowing yourself to be seen without immediately worrying about how everyone else might respond.
These are not abstract ideas. They are skills we can explore through the body, through movement and through supportive relationships.
This isn't about becoming someone else
You don't need to arrive feeling confident.
You don't need to be fit, coordinated or experienced in boxing. You don't need to have a particular goal for yourself or be ready to share your life story with a group.
You just need to be willing to give yourself an hour.
Full Force is designed to offer women a supportive environment to move, explore strength and reconnect with their own agency. There are no scales, no mirrors, no sparring and no expectation to perform.
This isn't another space where women are told what they should look like or how they should behave.
It's an opportunity to experience what happens when we stop making ourselves smaller to keep everyone else comfortable.
